Disney Vacation Club

Deeded points ownership with a fixed expiration date.

The Overview

DVC is a points-based timeshare where you buy a deeded real-estate interest that grants an annual allotment of Vacation Points to book Disney resorts. Points refill each year on your 'Use Year' and can be banked forward or borrowed ahead. The catch is the expiration: contracts run about 50 years from a resort's opening, ending on January 31 of years ranging from 2042 to 2074 depending on the home resort — after which ownership reverts to Disney.

What we liked

  • Deeded points booking across all DVC resorts; strong, liquid resale market
  • Bank and borrow Vacation Points around your annual Use Year
  • Well-maintained resorts with prime on-property Disney access

Watch out for

  • Contracts expire (Jan 31, 2042–2074 by resort) — then ownership ends
  • Steep direct-purchase premium over resale
  • Annual dues rise steadily; resale price reflects the remaining years

The Bottom Line

Ideal for devoted Disney families who visit often — buy resale, and always check the home resort's expiration year before you commit.

Worth it for Disney families

"If you're a family that visits Disney regularly, DVC has been fantastic for us. The deluxe resorts and the points flexibility are excellent. It's a lifestyle purchase — for us it pays off in memories every year."

Premium experience, premium price

"The quality and location of the resorts are unmatched if Disney is your thing. Just go in knowing the buy-in and dues are on the higher side. Booking at 11 months out is key for the popular home resorts."

Brian K.• Chicago, IL• Owner since 2019• January 2026

Love it, but book early

"Newer members and we're happy so far. The only learning curve is the booking window — the best availability goes fast, so we set reminders. Otherwise a great fit for our Disney-loving kids."

Melissa A.• Atlanta, GA• Owner since 2023• November 2025
