Hilton Grand Vacations

HGV Max unifies Hilton and legacy Diamond Resorts.

The Overview

After Hilton's acquisition of Diamond Resorts, HGV's premium tier — HGV Max — lets owners book across 150+ combined HGV and legacy Diamond resorts. It's a paid membership layer on top of your ownership: Diamond points and HGV ClubPoints stay separate currencies, but both can book the unified network. Reservations are priced by a Tier 1–6 system; members get a 6–7 month priority window, automatic Hilton Honors status, a 10% Hilton rate discount, and can convert points to Hilton Honors at 1:16.

What we liked

  • HGV Max unlocks 150+ combined HGV + legacy Diamond resorts
  • Automatic Hilton Honors status + 10% rate discount; 1:16 Honors conversion
  • Bank and borrow points; RCI / Destination Xchange exchange

Watch out for

  • HGV Max is a paid upgrade layered on top of annual maintenance fees
  • Dual-currency system (Diamond vs HGV points) is confusing; legacy Diamond resorts vary
  • Resale contracts get shorter booking windows and limited Honors conversion

The Bottom Line

Great reach and flexibility, but vet the specific home resort — especially former Diamond properties — and factor in the added cost of the HGV Max layer.

Flexible points, watch the fees

"The points are genuinely flexible and the Orlando and Hawaii properties have been great for our family. Maintenance fees are the trade-off — they're not small, so factor them into your yearly budget."

Anthony D.• Orlando, FL• Owner since 2018• February 2026

Reliable and well-located resorts

"We use ours mostly for weekend Vegas and Hawaii trips. Booking has been smooth and the units are consistently clean and updated. Presentation to buy was long, but no regrets."

Susan R.• Las Vegas, NV• Owner since 2020• December 2025

Decent value if you use it every year

"The math only works if you actually travel every year. We do, so it's been fine. If your plans are uncertain, think twice — the annual dues continue regardless of whether you go."

Mark T.• Denver, CO• Owner since 2022• October 2025
